He has held management and directorship positions at Arafertil, Bunge, Galvani, and Yamana, and currently at Bemisa, implementing greenfield and brownfield mining projects, operating mines and mineral-chemical plants, and managing supply chains.

A geologist graduated from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ) in 1968, he holds a PhD (1975) and a post-doctorate (1989) in Geophysics from the Colorado School of Mines. He headed the geophysics departments of ENCAL and the National Observatory of the CNPq and DNPM. He served as supervisor, superintendent, and director at CNPq. He was Program Director at CAPES and Coordinator of Policies and Plans at the MCTl. He was an Adjunct and Full Professor at IG-UnB, where he has been Professor Emeritus since 2018. He is currently a project manager at ADIMB.
